The construction of Wire Wound Resistor is entirely dependent upon its application. Most of these are constructed by winding a wire around a core. Once the circuit is completed, the resistance value is directly proportional to the resistivity, length and cross section of the wire. Wire Wound Resistor is mainly used for limiting current in any circuit. This is one of the oldest type of resistor that is made using alloys like Nichrome and Maganin. Other material involved in the making include plastic, glass and ceramic.
